I still can't get my hands on the CD. It hasn't been released in Malaysia. And I can't buy them from the iTunes Store. Wrong locality, it seems.
Sampled 'Funk the Hole' in Janji Joni's OST and 'Somos Libres' from your Podcast. Brilliant stuff.
Great interview as well, but what's with the American accent? Loosen up. Be natural.
hehehe, yeah i'll be interested buying the cd. Yeah I noticed the American accent, so? it's not a big deal for me though.
Ewan: what's wrong with an American speaking in their accent?
Well, Mr/Ms Anonymous, there is nothing wrong with accents -- any accent. That is why. in my opinion, we should all feel comfortable using our own, or rather, being natural.
As accents show much of a speaker's background, again, in my opinion, we shouldn't try to be someone we are not. As far as the English language is concerned, it is so globally used that anyone can call it his or her own. You can use English with your own 'tongue' without the need for resorting to others'. Think 'spaghetti goreng' with 'kecap' and 'cabe'.
I think it is nicer to listen to 'Indonesian way of speaking English' in the Podcast, as opposed to 'Indonesian way of speaking American English'.
In my opinion, the host, Jason Tedjasukmana hasn't lost his Indonesian tongue, judging from what I hear on the Podcast.
And of course, there's an everyday danger for people trying to 'accentuate' their English. They get accoused of being 'fake'.
ewan: I think I get your point. I, too, prefer listening to english spoken in various accents other than American: singlish, indian, french, etc. It's probably difficult to understand at the beginning, but, it's also more interesting. More... local. Just my opinion.
I already have this album of SORE. Love the music style.
By the way, great stuff, Jason. Looking forward to listening to all of your upcoming podcasts. So, this is what you were doing in Java Jazz, you're a correspondent to this site. I saw you talking to one of the members of Discus right after the show. Speaking of Discus, GREAT SHOW! Love it. I tried to record the audio with bad result. Hehe.. Are you going to do an interview with them?
An interesting interview with SORE and all of you guys could talk about is his 'American' accent? Who cares?
first of all i'd like to thank all of yous who's praised the music of SORE, i'm so sorry though if i had offended some people with my accent, it's just that this is the way i speak the language, i lived in LA for 10 yrs, but there is no way that i would consider myself to be an american, i'm a full blooded indonesian with terasi and pete stench stinking up my fingers, so please excuse the accent, and i'm so grateful to all of you to have acknowledge our music, what a blessing it has been, and by the way, it was not an american accent, it's more like a chicano E. Figuero Ave-infused menteng- accent, so i would consider it to be natural, and i would'nt know any other way to speak it, otherwise it would be unnatural :P
Somos Libres......
tapi kalo orang kita bahasa inggrisnya lancar, malah dihujat-hujat.
