Friday

Friday might be a holy day for some or just the end of the work week for others. This Friday marks the day Surabaya was firmly placed on the alternative music map. The mechanized melancholy of the group recalls Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or earlier memories of Radiohead. The 12 tracks are dark and the songs are long but each should satisfy the greatest of gothic cravings. The capital of East Java is unlikely ready for the psychedelic jams of this quartet and their less than radio-friendly format won’t make it any easier in Jakarta. Cyberspace may offer the warmest welcome so make you sure you find a ride to your nearest iTunes store and climb aboard the psychedelic express of this debut album released on Tadpole and distributed by indie veterans Aksara Records.
