In 2000, four regular guys with musical talent and the same vision came together. Aghi Narottama, Harris Khaseli, Bemby Gusti and Iman Fattah recorded their first album in Seattle and released it in mid-2001. The band would be their vehicle for expressing themselves in various art forms.
Each has their own project on the side. Aghi is the brains behind Apeontheroof,
an electronic/experimental band blending strings, danceable electronic beats and the female vocals
of Utari Syaukat. Bemby also plays with Sore, an imaginative and highly-acclaimed band breaking
all the rules of traditional music. Zeke and The Popo is the creation of Zeke and Iman, a
trippy mix of dark, ambient sounds driven by a vintage British guitar sound. Some describe Zeke and The Popo
as LAIN with slightly darker but catchier tunes. Well, whatever the name, LAIN are here
to stay and believe their other ventures will give them the perspective and experience they need
to keep creating music forever.
