With a little extra time on one's hands and the help of technology good things can happen. Witness the creative dexterity of Bayu Manihuruk, a graphic designer by day and musical madman by night. At a time when most of his friends wanted to "ngeband" (or play in a band), Bayu was more interested in following the lead of the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. Over the course of four years this south Jakarta resident tinkered with Fruity Loops and Cool Edit to come up with arrangements that would work with the voices of friends from such notable bands as Silent Sun and Kripik Peudeus. Some tracks came out dancey, others more melancholy, but all rope in the listener with solid hooks. Look for more at the end of 2006 as Bayu burns the midnight oil to finish up his next moonlight masterpiece.
