Shaggydog

This sextet proves once again that Yogyakarta is coming up to take on the indie music hubs of Bandung and Jakarta. "Doggy style" is how they describe their music but if that's not clear, think ska meets swing with touches of reggae and rock thrown in for good measure. Since the band formed in 1997, it has gained a large following around the country and a serious fan base in the Netherlands, where the band has toured several times. In 2003, one of their songs was featured on a Japanese compilation of ska music from around Asia. The band continues to attract fans from around Europe and Asia and has proven that party music like theirs knows no boundaries.
