Indiejazz has proven once again that it is open to all kinds of sounds. This release of Muslim music features top names in the jazz world, including Idang Rasjidi and Denny Chasmala. The two collaborated with a number of musicians to create an offering for the fasting month that was a bit more contemporary than Bimbo and the other traditional groups one regularly hears during that holy time of the year. While it remains to be seen if the cd will have crossover potential in the worlds of jazz and religious music, the gap between the two has been narrowed considerably by this unique project.
