Zeke & the Popo, begins as Zeke’s (LAIN) side project in 2003, with his buddies Mugeni and Babyfaced and not much later Kuro and Sideburns. The band soon make a name for themselves in the Jakarta music scene because of their unique live performances full of self-created visual supports. The breakthrough to a larger audience comes in 2005 with their hit-single ‘Mighty Love’ from the success film Janji Joni, a film by many considered a milestone in the Indonesian music scene. At the Jakarta International Film Festival in 2006 Zeke & the Popo win an award for ‘Unrescued World’, a short film that is based on the song with that title . I Novel, Mighty Love and 11 other great songs can be found on Zeke & the Popo’s debut album ‘Space in the Headlines’album (released on their own label Blackmorse and fully recorded in analog).
